Join for another great evening of fellowship and great worship on June 4th! We will have a BBQ to start the evening at 6:00 and then move into our time of worship at around 6:30.

This month Dave Busuttil from Sanctuary will be speaking. He says ” I’m talking about christians having a biblical based culture. turning away from the world’s ways. mostly it is going to be hating on western society, calling for real change and becoming more than churchgoers, moving to disciples”

Following God’s Path

Last night I read Matthew 10. In this chapter Jesus was talking to his disciples about what they must do. The part that I really focused on in this chapter and really thought about was all throughout about when Jesus was telling them what the disciples would be facing. He told them straight up that serving him would be one of the hardest things they would have to do. They might be beaten, put in jail, etc. all because they went around proclaiming the name of Jesus. Yet, notice Jesus does not stop there. He makes reference that God will never leave them when they are put in situations like this. For example, he tells them that if they stand trial God will give them the right words to say at the right time. Most notably that it will not be us speaking but God speaking through us.

How cool, yet scary is that? Serving God clearly has some really big downsides to it. I think it really separates the really strong Christians with the hypocrites. To truly be a follower of God we need to be willing to accept the risks that come about when proclaiming his name. It goes back to the stuff I was talking about in my last email. We love the comfort and security we have right now and don’t want to take the risks of losing it. Yet, Jesus tells us when we proclaim his name we will be potentially beaten, taken to court and people will hate us.

Yet, if we are willing to take the risks something amazing will happen. God will speak through us and will always be with us. To me that seems worth the risks. Yet, why sometimes am I so hesitant? I think to truly take the amazing leap of faith I need to take risks for God.

Another month has flown by and it is already time for another Undignified. This month we are going to do something a little different. Instead of having a speaker we are going to be watching an interview with a man named Patrick Fung who is a missionary overseas. This man is so incredibly filled with Gods spirit and when I first saw the interview I was powerfully impacted. So we decided to share this interview with you guys and have a time of discussion after the video since it raises a lot of questions about our walk and presents some challenges for us. Without spoiling too much of the interview, it is centred around the theme of following Gods path no matter what.

As usual, there will be dinner at 6:00, all-you-can-eat, and then we will begin at 6:30. Looking forward to seeing you all there. Make sure you tell your friends!

As Christians sit in pews around the world, we are all happy to look at one another, with love, and say, “this is my Christian brother.” But doesn’t our faith, our God, tell us to identify more than just those we see at church as our brothers and sisters? Do you believe? Canadian actor Donald Sutherland asked this question to all Canadians in the 2010 Vancouver Olympic Winter Games commercials. But the question holds much more weight than medal standings when it comes to faith in God and His Son, Jesus Christ.

Join us at the Undignified Worship Experience. Aaron Lewis will talk about the challenge of believing, even as Christians, in today’s world, and will challenge all of us TO believe.

WalkOn will again lead us through worship in song.

After an unprecedented attendance at Undignified North, we return to Lorne Park Baptist Church on Saturday, September 18, 2010. Arrive at 6pm for a BBQ, and worship with music starts at 6:30.
